The inability to attain and maintain an erection commonly occurs in men suffering from diabetes mellitus. Statistically speaking, the prevalence of erectile dysfunction in diabetes ranges from 35 per cent to 75 per cent. ‘Uncontrolled diabetes’ gradually affects all our blood vessels and can also cause neuropathy, due to which one starts finding difficulty in getting and sustaining an erection. To treat ‘diabetogenic’ erectile dysfunction, you will have to first get yourself properly treated for diabetes. Once your diabetes is controlled with proper diet, regular exercise and proper medications on a sustained basis, your erectile problem may either get corrected itself, or then it would be easier to treat that separately as well. The itching and white discharge around the foreskin is suggestive of infection. Such infections are also common in diabetics. You definitely need to consult a specialist to get the specific treatment for these complaints as soon as you can. Some of the medications commonly prescribed for high blood pressure are also known for causing erectile dysfunction. You will have to get this aspect cross-checked by a qualified sexologist, who can then prescribe you alternative medicines for your high BP which do not affect your erection.
