You can fairly assess the risk in sexual interaction with your sexual partner – are you in a committed, monogamous relationship, and not sleeping around behind each other’s backs consensually? This prevents the risk of STI’s transmission. If you have had partners before, consider getting a thorough STD/ STI test done for both of you so you eliminate the risk of any prior transmission. Further, if you are together, she can go on pills or any other non-barrier method to avoid pregnancy.
